These laps are used for final polishing and are suitable to use with most types of polishing compounds. Type Metal gets its name because it was used in printing press blocks like those shown above.

These solid type metal laps are 10 mm thick and can be re-machined. The laps are machined flat and true and are suitable for finishing stones to a competition standard.

Type metal laps contain antinomy as well as tin and lead. This makes the laps harder and more durable and helps provide a better finish than traditional tin laps on harder stones such as sapphires.
